Im going on my honeymoon in January, and some of our honeymoon is being spent in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area. My fiance loves to snorkel, but I was wondering how good the snorkeling is going to be in that area in January. How warm will the water be? And is it even worth it to try and go? Also, any good areas we should check out if snorkeling is a good idea?
Thanks for the help!

/ February 19, 2010Water temperature in south Florida in January is 70 – 72 degrees (wear a lycra shell to ward off a chill). A great place to go is John Pennekamp Park in Key Largo, an easy drive from Miami. They have both snorkeling and scuba diving. Everything you need to know at http://www.pennekamppark.com/

/ February 19, 2010Hi,
The area around Miami has one area that is rated above average and that would be Biscayne Bay.
It will be chilly in the 70’s, so you’ll need at least a 3mil or 5mil wet suit. Just south of Miami is Key Largo there you will find dive operations that will take you out to the shallow off-shore reef system. This is the place to have fun. They will even rent you all the gear you will need.
Enjoy…
